2021 AFCON qualifiers: CK Akonnor unperturbed by Sudan’s win against Sao Tome ahead of South Africa match

Ghana head coach, CK Akonnor has stressed that he is not bothered by the fact that Sudan defeated Sao Tome & Principe 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the qualifiers to next year’s AFCON.

Pitted in Group C alongside Sudan, Ghana will have a huge mountain to climb on Thursday when the side faces the Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg.

Preview to Sudan’s win against Sao Tome that has blown Group C wide open as the AFCON qualifiers nears its climax, Coach CK Akonnor says he is not bothered.

According to the tactician, he is focused on his team and working to mount a strategy that will give his team the needed win against South Africa tomorrow.

“There is always pressure whether they win or not there is always pressure. In a match like this it is important for us to do as much as we can to qualify tomorrow. We are not going to look at what Sudan and others have done,” coach CK Akonnor told the media team of GFA in an interview.

The Ghana head coach added, “We have to look at ourselves as a football nation, our people are hungry, they want to see us qualifying and so I’m not looking at them (Sudan). It is important for us to do well and then get the necessary result.”

Tomorrow’s match will be played in Johannesburg and has been scheduled to kick-off at 16:00GMT.
