2021 AFCON qualifiers: Ghana coach CK Akonnor upbeat ahead of South Africa clash

Ghana head coach CK Akonnor is upbeat ahead of the epic clash against South Africa in the qualifiers to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on Thursday.

The Black Stars will tomorrow play against the Bafana Bafana in a crucial Group C clash that could potentially decide who progresses out of the series as the best team.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Ghana head coach CK Akonnor says there is pressure on the opponent.

According to the gaffer, he is optimistic his side can beat South Africa to enhance the chance of qualifying for the AFCON next year.

“That was our home this time it is an away match, on their home grounds, the pressure is on them and psychologically they would have to win,” coach CK Akonnor said in an interview with the media team of GFA.

The coach continued, “We also have to mount a strategy that will give us the victory and so I’m very very hopeful and from what I have seen the last weeks, what we have worked on if we are able to implement it here we will get a good result.”

Tomorrow’s match will be played in Johannesburg and has been scheduled to kick-off at 16:00GMT.
