Strengthened with some of the best players on the local scene, backed by a number of sponsorships and the financial power of a 12-member board, Asante Kotoko begins their quest to conquer the Ghana Premier League with a home match against Techiman Eleven Wonders this weekend.
Last season, the Porcupine Warriors club enjoyed a decent spell but some inconsistencies meant that the club finished 4 on the standings of the division at the time the campaign was suspended and subsequently canceled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ahead of the start of the new football season, the Reds are returning with arguably the best squad on the local scene.
With at least 10 marquee signings in the transfer window, all departments of the club have been strengthened in a bid to ensure coach Maxwell Konadu has the best materials to work with.
On Matchday 1, the opponent will be Techiman Eleven Wonders. The side fell to Asante Kotoko narrowly last season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
In Sunday’s game, the venue has been changed to the Accra Sports Stadium and the Techiman-based club look determined to perform some wonders to upset the Ghana Premier League favourites.

Kwame Poku – With as many as 6 goals in pre-season for Asante Kotoko, the young striker has been tipped as a strong contender for the goal king award in the 2020/2021 football season.
