2022/23 Ghana Premier League resumption in limbo as court adjourns injunction case again

Published on: 20 October 2022

There is no a specific date for the resumption of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League after an Accra High court adjourned the injunction case to Monday, October 24, 2022.

Meanwhile, the court granted Ashanti Gold's earlier petition to file supplementary affidavits supporting their motion for an injunction through their Lawyer, Edward Sam Crabbe.

Naa Odofoley Nortey, council for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) did not oppose the motion. AshGold have until close of day on October 20, to file and submit their supplementary affidavits.

The interlocutory injunction will now be heard on October 24 to determine when the suspended topflight can resume.

The GFA put the Premier League on hold on September 29, 2022 after a Motion on Notice for Injunction filed at the Human Rights High Court by Ashanti Gold SC and served on the GFA’s lawyers.

The topflight was scheduled to enter match week four before it halted, however the GFA will hope for the prompt return of the league and ensure that the calendar is not further disrupted in this World Cup year.

The global showpiece will take place between November 21 and December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
