2022/23 Ghana Premier League week 23: Bibiani GoldStars 1-0 Samartex 1996 - Report

Published on: 26 March 2023

Bibiani GoldStars edged Samartex 1996 1-0 at Dun’s Park on Sunday afternoon in match week 23 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.

The win takes the Gye Nyame lads to fourth on the league log with 35 points, the same as Hearts of Oak who lost horribly to Karela United this weekend.

The hosts could, however, move down if Asante Kotoko beat Medeama SC in a game to be played later in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, Samartex move from 9th to 11th after the defeat and still on 30 points.

A keenly contested first 45 minutes did not produce goals as both sides played cautiously.

Evans Owusu scored for the hosts in the 70th minute to put Michael Osei’s charges ahead. The goal was his second in three games.

The home side held on for the win to bounce back to winning ways after their goalless draw against King Faisal last week.

Bibiani GoldStars will travel to Tarkwa to play as guests to Medeama SC at Akoon Park on Wednesday, March 29 while Samartex 1996 will play as hosts to Akyem Kotoku Royals at Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi.
