Asante Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala has dedicated their 2-1 comeback win over Berekum Chelsea to the fan who lost his eye last season at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Mukwala, who lasted the entire duration of the game was on target in their Ghana Premier League match week nine encounter

The win sees the Porcupine Warriors climb to the second spot with 17 points, two points behind leaders Aduana Stars.

“I feel so delighted to score for my team. It is a teamwork basically. This win we give it to the fan who lost his eye last season," the Uganda international told Startimes.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, defending champions Kotoko hosted Berekum Chelsea after a two-game winless run following a draw against Legon Cities and loss to Real Tamale United.

The visitors  scored first when Emmanuel Sarpong equalised in the 27th minute to give the Blues the lead. Despite the setback, Asante Kotoko managed to fight to turn things around.

Goals from Eric Zeze in the 45th minute and Steven Mukwala in the 65th minute propelled the Porcupine Warriors to defeat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.

Kotoko will take on Aduana Stars on match week 10 of the Ghana Premier League on January 1, 2023.
