2022 AFCON qualifiers: Ghana FA to enhance COVID-19 test and protocols in Black Stars camp

Published on: 30 October 2020

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be enhancing the Coronavirus testing and protocols in the camp of the Black Stars when players arrive for camping ahead of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

Earlier this month, Coach CK Akonnor had the chance of being in the dugout for his first official match as head coach for the Black Stars.

In a game that ended in a 3-0 defeat to Mali, coach Akonnor and his team stepped up in a subsequent friendly match to post a heavy win over Asian Champions Qatar.

At the end of the friendliest, as many as 6 of the Ghana players who returned to their various clubs tested positive for the Coronavirus disease.

The situation raised a lot of questions about how far the Ghana FA went in enforcing the COVID-19 safety measures during the team’s camping.

With the team set to assemble again, checks have revealed that the GFA is planning to enhance the Coronavirus testing and enforcing of protocols to ensure the story is different this time around.

As reported by Footballghana earlier, Ghana coach CK AKonnor will later today name his squad for the upcoming doubleheader against Sudan in the qualifiers to the next AFCON tournament.
