Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor has handed a call up to three local players for the 2022 African Cup of Nations [Afcon] qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome in March later this year.

Akonnor has been scouting local players in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

WAFA SC playmaker Augustine Boakye and Techiman Eleven Wonders winger Salifu Ibrahim have been handed a call up according to media reports.

King Faisal’s prolific attacker Kwame Peprah has also been named in Akonnor's squad.

Augustine Boakye and Salifu Ibrahim have been in top shape in the ongoing Ghana Premier league,  commanding play, and creating goal-scoring opportunities for their teams.

With 8 goals to his name, Kwame Peprah is only a goal away from the top, having netted the only goal in Faisal’s home win against Medeama SC.

Akonnor is expected to name a 25 man squad of locally-based players before their foreign counterparts join the team to prepare for the doubleheader.

Ghana just a point to seal their qualifications for the tournament that will be hosted in Cameroon.
