2022 CHAN: Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf not thinking of revenge against Ghana

Published on: 22 August 2022

Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf has set sights on beating the Black Galaxies of Ghana to secure qualification to the Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

The 60-year-old was part of Austin Eguavoen's technical team when Ghana booked a ticket to this year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

According to Yusuf, he says he's not thinking of revenge against Ghana.

"I won’t say we are seeking to get revenge against Ghana because of what happened with the last game on the road to the Qatar World Cup," he said ahead of the tie.

"We want to win and qualify for the final stage of the competition in Algeria next year. That is basically what we are pursuing."

"However, if we beat them to the ticket, which we definitely hope to achieve, then whatever description anyone gives it should be a matter of choice."

The first leg of the tie will take place at Cape Coast stadium on Sunday, 28th August, while return fixture is scheduled for the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, 3rd September.

The winner qualifies for the 7th African Nations Championship finals to be staged in Algeria early next year.
