Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has hit top ahead of the upcoming final play-offs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria later this month.

Fresh from winning Arsenal Player of the Month for February for the very first time, Partey put up an incredible performance for the Gunners in their 2-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring for Arsenal before Alexandre Lacazette converted a spot-kick to wrap up the win at the Emirates stadium.

He has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2020 amid injuries that kept him on the sidelines.

Partey is expected to be named in the Ghana squad for Nigeria clash on March 25 and will lead the team following the absence of skipper Andre Ayew who is suspended.

The former Atletico Madrid has made 34 appearances for Black Stars and scored 12 goals in the process.

The first leg of the crucial qualifier will be played on March 25 whereas the second leg takes place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 29.

The winner of the tie will represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022, in Qatar.
