South Africa has taken full control of Group G of the Africa qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to pile pressure on Ghana.

Nicknamed the Bafana Bafana, the team in September recorded a crucial narrow 1-0 win over the Black Stars to climb to the top of the Group G table.

Playing as the visiting side to Ethiopia today, South Africa put up an excellent showing to increase their lead at the top of the standings.

On the matchday, an own goal from Fasil Gebremichael in the added time of the first half handed South Africa the lead.

Although Ethiopia will score through Getaneh Kebede in the 67th minutes of the second half, South Africa pushed to score two additional goals to cruise to an important 3-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes.

Today’s big away win means that there is pressure on Ghana to also beat Zimbabwe. If the Black Stars fail to get the result against the Warriors, the chances of the West African side qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup will become slimmer.
