2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ghana turns attention to Ethiopia, South Africa matches in bid to book ticket to Qatar

The Black Stars of Ghana are turning all attention to matches against Ethiopia and South Africa in September as the side eyes a return to the FIFA World Cup having missed the last edition.

In 2018, when the focus of the world was on Russia as they hosted the World Cup, but unfortunately, Ghana could not be represented due to the failure to qualify for the showpiece.

Keen on returning to the global tournament in 2022, the Black Stars have set sight on excelling in the qualifiers to come out tops.

As a result, while the team prepares to begin the campaign in the qualifiers, head coach CK Akonnor has announced his squad for the first two games in Group G.

Ghana is scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Johannesburg respectively.

The Stars will be without important players Thomas Partey as well as Mohammed Kudus.

Nonetheless, the team is strong enough and should pick important points at the end of the two matches in September.
