Published on: 10 November 2022

Former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand says Cristiano Ronaldo is currently concentrating on his physical fitness in preparation for the World Cup.

“He is probably working on his physical form now. If Cristiano goes to the World Cup, then he can return from it in better shape than before him,” said Ferdinand Goal on Twitter.

The World Cup will be played in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. Portugal will be grouped with Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea.

This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world, and the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan. In addition, the tournament is scheduled to be the last with a 32-team field; the field is slated to increase to 48 teams for the 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

This will be Ronaldo's fifth World Cup appearance, at the age of 37.  Cristiano Ronaldo (117 goals) is the all-time leading scorer in international football.
