2022 World Cup: Cukaricki forward Samuel Owusu omitted from Ghana's final squad

Published on: 09 November 2022

Ghana coach Otto Addo has reportedly dropped FK Cukaricki winger Samuel Owusu from his final 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for his side this season, making 18 appearances, scoring one and providing three assists across all competitions this season.

Despite his impressive performances for Cukaricki, Owusu could not make the final cut. He was not called-up for both 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Egypt and in Cameroon respectively.

Coach Otto Addo is expected to announce final 26-man squad for the World Cup on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.

Black Stars will play Switzerland in an International friendly on November 17, before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup.
