2022 World Cup: Ghana’s opponent Uruguay name injured Edinson Cavani in final squad

Ghana's group opponent Uruguay are confident Edinson Cavani will recover from his injury ahead of 2022 FIFA World Cup after being named in the final squad.

Cavani missed Valencia's match against Real Betis on Thursday in La Liga as the Uruguay striker recovers from an ankle injury with few days to the global showpiece.

The 35-year-old has scored four goals in seven games for Valencia in La Liga this season.

Cavani is set to play at his fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup in Qatar which kicks off on November 20.

Key defender Ronald Araujo, who plays for Barcelona and out of action since having thigh surgery in September has also been included in the squad.

Uruguay's first game in the World Cup is against South Korea on November 24.

Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
