2022 World Cup: If Sadio Mane has problems and can't play, he can't play - Julian Nagelsmann

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann has refused to say to whether Senegal's superstar Sadio Mane will participate in the World Cup.

Sadio Mane started Bayern Munich's game against Werder Bremen but had to be sidelined with an injury early in the encounter.

Mane suffered an injury to his right fibula and will miss Saturday's last Bundesliga game of the year against FC Schalke. Africa's footballer of the year is still in Senegal's World Cup squad.

"In the end there is a medical situation and diagnosis in 10 days after the follow-up examination and then we'll see what comes out," said the Bayern Munich coach.

“In general, an early deployment after an injury is always critical. It's clear that Senegal would like him to play," said Nagelsmann.

"If he has problems and can't play, he can't play. The medical things are then already above the sporting.  The player's health is more important, Mane is no different than any other player,"

Senegal will play in a group with the hosts, Ecuador and the Netherlands at the World Cup, which begins on November 20th.
