Cremonese striker Felix Afena-Gyan has been dropped from Ghana's squad for the 2022 World Cup according to reports in the local media.

The 19-year-old was included in Ghana's initially 55 man provisional squad for the Mundial announced four days ago by the Ghana Football Association.

Afena-Gyan debuted with Ghana in a 0–0 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification tie with Nigeria on 25 March 2022.

On 1 June 2022, Afena-Gyan scored his first international goal, as he contributed to the Black Stars' 3–0 win against Madagascar in the first match of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations: in the same occasion, he also provided the assist for Mohammed Kudus' opening goal.

Ghana will play an international friendly game against Switzerland on November 17th before flying to Doha, Qatar. Ghana is in Group H with Uruguay, South Korea, and Portugal.

The Black Stars of Ghana will play their first game at the Mundial against Portugal on November 24th.
