2022 World Cup: My mother left the stadium when South Korea equalized - Jordan Ayew

Black Stars forward, Jordan Ayew, has shared an emotional anecdote about his mother, Maha Ayew, during Ghana's intense World Cup match against South Korea in 2022.

Ayew revealed that his mother was unable to bear the tension and had to leave the Education City Stadium after 65 minutes.

The match witnessed a thrilling turn of events when the Koreans scored two goals in just three minutes, leveling the score at 2-2.

Prior to that, Ghana's Mohammed Salisu and Mohammed Kudus had given the Black Stars a comfortable two-goal lead.

The sudden turnaround in the game proved to be too much for Ayew's mother, especially with her two sons, Andre and Jordan, representing Ghana on the field.

Speaking to Crystal Palace's website, the 31-year-old forward explained, "My Mum, after 65 or 70 minutes, she couldn't watch the game anymore. She had to leave the stadium! We like [the tension] like that, we enjoy it.

"It was very stressful for her. She is very passionate about the game as well, so she just couldn't watch. With her two sons playing, it was not easy for her."

However, Ghana eventually emerged victorious when Kudus scored the winning goal in the 68th minute, just seven minutes after South Korea's equalizer. The final score stood at 3-2 in favor of Ghana. Sadly, this turned out to be Ghana's sole victory in the tournament.

Prior to the South Korea match, Ghana had faced a 3-2 defeat against Portugal in their group opener. Their hopes of progressing to the next round were dashed when they suffered a 2-0 loss to Uruguay in the final group game.
