2022 World Cup playoffs: Ahmed Musa says Nigeria vs Ghana is about everything

Published on: 24 March 2022

Nigeria skipper, Ahmed Musa says their 2022 FIFA World Cup final play-offs against Ghana is about everything for both nations.

The two West African countries will face each other over two legs scheduled for Friday, March 25, and Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

This upcoming encounter is one that will be keenly watched by football fans in Accra and Abuja because of the known rivalry between the two countries.

"As you can see, it’s about the politics, it’s about the Jollof that you mentioned, it’s about music, acting, fashion, everything," Musa told NFF TV.

"And thank God football has brought us together to show again who is the king. As the record shows… I’m not going to say anything about the past.

"They have good records better than Nigeria but this is a new generation of the Super Eagles."

Nigeria have a long history of football rivalry with Ghana with the first game between both sides played 72 years ago.

Black Stars have faced Nigeria 49 times and have won 21 times. The Super Eagles have won 10 times while 18 of the clashes have ended in a stalemate.

The Super Eagles are seeking to qualify for the global showpiece a 7th time and, since 1994, have missed only one of seven editions. The last of three appearances by Ghana was in 2014.
