2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Five Hearts of Oak players handed Black Stars call up for Ethiopia and South Africa games - Reports

Five Hearts of Oak players have been handed a call up to the senior national team for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September.

CK Akonnor, who is the head coach of the side is expected to name his squad for the games on Friday, August 13 at the Conference of the Ghana Football Association [GFA].

However, according to reports in the local media, five Hearts of Oak players have been handed a call up to the Black Stars.

Fatawu Mohammed, who is the captain of the club together with first-choice goalkeeper Richard Attah who kept 12 clean sheets are in the squad.

Roberto Addo Sowah and Benjamin Afutu, who has also been sensational for the Rainbow club giving them the needed balance in midfield doing all the combative works finishing off the campaign with four goals to his belt have all been named in the squad.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, who led the Black Satellites to win the African Youth Championship has also been named in the squad.

Barnieh was phenomenal for the Phobians in the just end season for the club.

Ghana are scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg respectively.
