2022 World Cup qualifiers: We have players who can fill Thomas Partey's void - Milovan Rajevac

Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac believes they have equally good players to step up despite the absence of star player, Thomas Partey.

The Arsenal midfielder together, Jonathan Mensah and Felix Afena-Gyan did not join the camp of the team for the trip to Johannesburg for the matchday five games of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Partey suffered an injury at the training grounds with his club side ahead of the fine round of games.

Despite scoring in both games against Zimbabwe during the October international break for the Black Stars, the Serbian trainer believes he has good players to cover up.

“Thomas Partey delivered some brilliant performances in our last games and he scored some goals too but this is football, you get injured sometimes. We have players who can step in and play because that is how football works. We have trust in the squad and we know whoever replaces him is there to help the team win and get to the next level,” he said.

Rajevac also stated that he is hopeful to have the Arsenal player back before Ghana’s all-important game against South Africa in Cape Coast.

“We are hoping to have Thomas Partey back before our final game but we are not sure yet,” he highlighted.

Ghana will wrap up their final games in Group G with a home game against South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
