2022 World Cup: Saani Daara explains why Black Stars need supporters in Qatar

Saani Daara, former Ghana Football Association spokesman has stated that sending supporters to Doha will help boost the morale of the players on the pitch.

Some social commentators urge the government not to send supporters to the Mundial because of the country’s economic troubles.

The 2022 World Cup will kick off on November 20th and end on December 18th.

According to Saani Daara, the government engages corporate bodies to help finance the Black Stars and the flying of supporters to Mundial. He added that the player's morale gets boosted when they see the supporters in the stands.

“The President calls Ghana companies the big ones they can't come and sit down and just go away. He pleads with the companies that this is our situation we can't send the 11 eleven players onto the field and leave them like that. So try and help, donate some little money GNPC bring yours, MTN collects a lot of money from us bring some, etc. If it gets to that stage and the President calls them…they have even started helping to push the team and also the supporters it is very important," he said on Happy FM as monitored by footballghana.com

"We neglect a lot of the time...do you know why Liverpool it is very difficult for you to beat them at Anfield those who have been to Anfield will tell you the place is intimidating. And the players too when they see that the supporters are there…Ghanaians are there it encourages them. I remember when Essien was at Chelsea there was a boy sitting in a corner he always had the Ghana flag. So I asked Essien that when he sees the Ghana flag…he said it boosts his morale. That boy Essien befriended him and made sure that that spot Chelsea leaves a ticket for him so that he can hold the Ghana flag. These things we don’t value the positive benefits of it. President Kufour said that Ghanaians sometimes we know the cost of everything but we don’t know the value of anything. All these things we have to use money and people also get jobs in it the same Ghanaians,"
