2023/24 CAF Champions League prelims: Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede anticipates a tough game against Medeama

Published on: 29 July 2023

Remo Stars FC coach, Daniel Ogunmodede says he is anticipating a tough game against Medeama SC in the first round of the preliminary round of games.

The Nigerian side will face the Ghana Premier League champions.

According to him, he has no knowledge about the Yellow and Mavue but acknowledged that they are not to be underestimated.

Ogunmodede acknowledged that the Ghanaian-based club might not have the same household recognition as giants like Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, but he warned that this could make them an even more dangerous opponent.

“Despite not being considered a force to be reckoned with, their recent league victory by a points difference of 5 serves as a testament to their strength on the field,” he told Happy FM.

Nevertheless, the Remo Stars coach remained undeterred and exuded confidence in his team’s capabilities. He hinted at having a strategic plan in place that would favour his squad in the crucial clash.

“They won the league with a points difference of 5, it means they will be a very tough opponent but I have something that will favour my team going into this tie. I am a very experienced coach, and I’m looking forward to an entertaining fixture,” he added.

Medeama will host Remo Stars at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Nigeria for the second leg.

The first preliminary round is scheduled from 18-20 August for the first-leg matches and 25 – 27 August for the second-leg encounters.

The second preliminary round is fixed for 15 – 17 September and September 19 – October 1, 2023.

The winner of this tie will play against Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second preliminary round to fight for a place in the group stage.
