James Francis, the coach of Accra Lions, is looking ahead with confidence as the new Ghana Premier League season kicks off.

The Accra-based club embarked on a challenging opening fixture, facing reigning champions Medeama SC in Tarkwa.

Having overseen the team’s preparations during pre-season and introducing new additions to the squad, Coach Francis expressed his belief in the team’s readiness for the forthcoming campaign.

“We’ve had a really positive pre-season. From last year, we’ve changed it slightly, in terms of the system and how we want to play and the players have really adapted to it, which is really good to see, they are confident and playing some good football,” Coach Francis told ALFC TV.

The introduction of new players has been seamless, with Francis commending their adaptability to the team’s style of play.

He noted, “The new signings that have come in, have adapted to the system and the way we want to play. We’ve really strengthened in every position, in terms of the back four, the midfielder unit, and the attacking. I am really pleased with how they have adapted.”

One of the fresh recruits, Ali Mohammed, made a memorable debut in the Ghana Premier League, finding the net for Lions. The match in Tarkwa against Medeama ended in a 2-2 draw.

Samuel Gyimah struck first for Accra Lions, but Daniel Lomotey equalized for the Mauve and Yellow. Mohammed’s goal, ten minutes from the final whistle, was ultimately countered by Jonathan Sowah.
