Legon Cities will face Karela United in the Ghana Premier League opening day at the El-Wak Stadium on Sunday.

The 2023-24 Ghana Premier League campaign officially start this weekend, with 18 clubs expected to battle it out for the covetous trophy.

Medeama emerged as winner in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League after taking advantage of Aduana FC’s slip-up latter part of the season.

The new season promises to be a thrilling one as participating clubs aim to make meaningful impact.

Legon Cities are under a new technical direction following the departure of Maxwell Konadu, who left at the end of last season to join Nsoatreman FC.

The Royals will be led by experienced coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin. The former Ghana U17 coach guided Aduana FC to second place finish last-term and will aim to improve Legon Cities this season.

Legon Cities go into the match with some new faces in their squad following the departure of Michel Otou, Michael Ampadu, Jonah Attuquaye, Felix Hammond and other top players.

Fabin’s outfit will hope to make the home advantage count as they aim a flying start in the domestic top-flight campaign.

Meanwhile, Karela United are expected to give Legon Cities a good run for their money. They are aiming to start the season on a good note to boost their chances of making impact.

Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko did a perfect job to save Karela United from suffering relegation after taking over the club mid-way last season.

As he takes full charge, the former RTU tactician will be aiming to write a refreshing story at the club.
