2023/24 Ghana Premier League Week 2 – Match Preview – Aduana FC v Medeama SC

Published on: 22 September 2023

Aduana Football Club will host champions Medeama on Sunday in matchday two of the Ghana Premier League.

The fire boys are aiming to bounce back to winning ways following a disappointing start to the 2023/24 league season.

Yaw Acheampong’s outfit succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Samartex at the Nsenkyire sports Complex on opening day. In a spirited performance, Samartex surprised Aduana to secure the maximum points at stake.

Samartex are in their second season after making a return to the domestic top-flight after many years’ absence.

It is important to note that, Aduana FC were on course to clinch their third Premier League title after staying on top of the league standings for several weeks last season but unfortunately lost steam towards the end of the season. Medeama SC took advantage of their slip-up to win their first ever league title.

This makes the upcoming game a tough one but Aduana will be aiming to win console themselves after losing the title to the Yellow and Mauves.

Medeama SC, on the other hand, started their Ghana Premier League title defense with a stalemate against Accra Lions last Wednesday. In-form striker, Jonathan Sowah left it late to secure a point for the Yellow and Mauves at the Akoon Community Park.

In fact, the upcoming match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams will be seeking for their first win of season.
