Medeama vs Kotoko

In a highly competitive clash on Saturday, Medeama and Asante Kotoko locked horns in matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League at the Akoon Community Park.

The Yellow and Mauve failed to make their home advantage count, as the game ended in a scoring draw in Tarkwa.

The Porcupine Warriors short into the lead through Uganda international Steven Mukwala, who found the back of the net after just 22 minutes into the crucial game. The visitors went to recess with the advantage.

In a spirited performance, the home team restored parity in the much-anticipated clash through former Ghana Premier League goal king Diawisie Taylor.

The former Karela United attacker hit the hack of the net from the penalty spot to level pegging for the host in the crucial encounter in the 56th minute mark.

And with no additional goal, the game ended in a 1-1 draw in Tarkwa as both teams went home with a point apiece.

Asante Kotoko hoped to grab maximum points to push them further on the Ghana Premier League table, but the host proved to a stronger opponent and had to settle for a stalemate.

The draw means, Medeama were unable to bounce from their defeat against Berekum Chelsea last weekend.

The Ghanaian giants were aiming for maximum points in the crucial encounter to continue to their winning run but it could not materialized.

With 40 points, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions find themselves in the 7the position on the Ghana Premier League log after 27 matches into the campaign.

Asante Kotoko, on the other side, sit 11th on the table with 37 points after 27 matches so far this season.
