2023/24 Ghana Premier League week two: Nations FC 2-0 Samartex – Report

Nations FC picked their first ever win of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League when they beat Samartex 2-0 on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The newly-promoted side scored in either half to beat the Timber Giants after suffering a narrow loss to Dreams FC in the previous weekend.

Barimah Baah scored the home side’s first ever Ghana top flight goal when he gave them the lead 25 minutes into the game.

Nations FC went into the break with the one goal advantage against the Timber Giants, with the home fans excited about what they are seeing from their club.

The resistance of the visitors was broken again at the hour mark. This time, through an Amidou Diarra finish to make it 2-0 for Nations FC.

Samartex could find a consolation as Nations FC hold out for the three points.

In week three of the Ghana Premier League, Nations FC will play as guests to defending champions Medeama SC at the Tarkwa Akoon Park.

For FC Samartex, they will play as host to Bechem United on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
