2023 AFCON qualifier: Ghana held by Central Africa Republic

Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored for Ghana in their 1-1 draw against Central Africa Republic on match day two of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.

The 21-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game as Black Stars failed to secure all three points at the 11 Novembro stadium in Luanda.

Despite the stalemate, Ghana are still top of Group E with four points, same points as second-placed Angola but with a better goal difference.

The hosts took an early in the 17th minute of the game through Kudus who curled in a low shot into the bottom corner after some one-two passes on the right side between Osman Bukari and Felix Afena-Gyan released the youngster.

Coach Otto Addo's side could not hold on as Karl Namnganda bagged the equaliser for Central African Republic just before half time.

After the recess, both teams created several chances but failed to put the ball at the back of next as they shared the spoils.

The Black Stars will take on Angola in their next AFCON qualifier in September.

Ghana will switch their attention to the Kirin Cup which will be played in Japan.

The Black Stars will first play the host on June 10, 2022.
