The Black Stars of Ghana have trained for the first time as part of preparations for the clash against Madagascar in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana takes on Madagascar next weekend in a last but one match of Group E in the AFCON qualifiers.

On Monday morning, all the 25 invited players excluding Thomas Partey reported to the team hotel of the Black Stars to begin camping.

At 4pm, Coach Chris Hughton and his squad proceeded to the Accra Sports Stadium to train.

While 23 players will train, Gideon Mensah and Thomas Partey did not take part in the training.

Meanwhile, Bechem United striker Hafiz Wontah Konkoni trained separately from the squad.

He is expected to join his colleagues for the training on Tuesday when the Black Stars return to the Accra Sports Stadium.

The game between Madagascar and Ghana will be played on Sunday, June 18. A win for Ghana is likely to secure qualification for the Black Stars to the 2023 AFCON.
