2023 AFCON qualifiers: Ghana midfielder Daniel-Kyereh to miss double-header clash against Angola in March

Ghana international, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has suffered an injury setback that will see him miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in March.

According to his club SC Freiburg, the talented midfielder has suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

Due to that, he has been sidelined for the rest of the season.

“Kofi Kyereh tore his cruciate ligament in training and will be out for the rest of the season,” the German Bundesliga club said in a statement on Friday.

The statement further explained, “In Thursday's training, Kofi Kyereh twisted his knee in a duel. An examination in the Freiburg University Hospital resulted in the diagnosis of a cruciate ligament rupture. An operation is to follow in the next few days. The attacking player will no longer be available this season.

“We wish Kofi a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!”

Due to the injury, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh will not be available for selection in March when Ghana takes on Angola in the double-header encounter of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
