Ghana's Black Stars goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott, is expected to be available for the team's upcoming match against Angola on Thursday, March 23, 2023, despite suffering an injury during a training session.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when a goalpost fell on Wollacott due to heavy winds.

Although he was unable to complete the training session, the Ghana Football Association's spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that Wollacott is expected to be part of the team's final training and will be ready for the game.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Wontumi TV/Radio, Asante Twum revealed that Wollacott had some minor pains on his toe after receiving medical attention but did not specify whether he would start the game or not. He emphasized that the decision would be up to the coaches.

“He [Wollacott] was feeling some minor pains on his toe but after medical attention he is expected to be part of the final training. He will be ready for the game but I don’t know whether he will start or not”, he said.

Ghana is currently joint top of the Group E table with four points from two games, having won 3-0 against Madagascar and drawn 1-1 with Central African Republic in June 2022. The match against Angola will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with the return fixture scheduled to take place in Luanda on March 27, 2023.
