Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante-Twum has revealed that certain factors contributed to Black Stars' early exit during the just-ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana, who arrived in Ivory Coast with swagger and confidence commenced their campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde.

In their last two Group B games, the Black Stars drew 2-2 with Egypt and Mozambique respectively to finish 3rd with just two points.

The poor performance of the West African country led to their early elimination which saw their chances of winning their fifth continental title coming to a halt.

Reflecting on the last two matches against Egypt and Mozambique, Asante-Twum cited various factors that hampered the team's performance and ultimately led to their failure to progress.

"When you cast your mind back to the game against Egypt and Mozambique, you could see certain factors affected our performance and that prevented us from qualifying for the next round of the tournament," Mr Asante-Twum told News File on Joy FM.

Ghana's premature elimination means the Black Stars have suffered group phase exit for the second consecutive time.

Chris Hughton, who was the then head coach has been shown the exit due to the horrendous performance of the team.
