Former Ghana coach, CK Akonnor is confident about Black Stars' chances of doing well at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The West African country has booked their place in the 34th edition of the AFCON which is slated to be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.

In the last edition in Cameroon, the Black Stars exited the tournament with just one point after losing to Morocco and Comoros and a draw against Gabon.

However, Akonnor, who is a former Ghana international beleives that with good preparation and staying focused ahead of the tournament, the team will excel at the tournament.

“I believe once we are prepared and focused as a team about what we want to do and do it effectively we’ll shine in the tournament," the 49-year-old who is a former Asante Kotoko told Graphic Sports.

The Black Stars, who last won the AFCON in 1982 in Liyba have been housed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

The AFCON has been scheduled to kick off from January 13 to February 11.
