Mohammed Kudus has reiterated his disappointment following Ghana's early exit during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The West Ham United attacker who was making his first appearance at the continent's most prestigious tournament made an impact despite the Black Stars' early elimination.

Having missed the first game against Cape Verde, the 23-year-old netted a brace in Ghana's 2-2 draw against Egypt.

Ghana needed a win against Mozambique in their final Group B game to secure a place in the last 16 but were held to another 2-2 drawn game.

The exit meant the Black Stars who were chasing their fifth AFCON title suffered second consecutive AFCON group phase elimination.

Speaking in an interview, Kudus expressed his disappointment following the team's elimination despite his impact.

“As human beings, we need some time to shake stuff off,” Kudus told The Guardian.

“I was injured before Afcon and had to put all my effort into being there to help the team. It was my first Afcon and it didn’t go as planned.

"When you go back straight into playing nobody ever gives you time to change gear. It had an impact because it was a big disappointment," he added.

Mohammed Kudus was named as the Man of The Match against Egypt and Mozambique.
