The Black Stars of Ghana have been dealt with a big blow as two key players are expected to miss out on the final group game against the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana will host CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 7 needing just a draw or a win to seal a spot for the tournament.

However, ahead of the game, midfielder Majeed Ashiemru will miss the game due to an injury.

The central midfielder picked up an ankle injury during Anderlecht’s 0-2 defeat to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise in the opening weekend of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

Reports suggest the player, who has missed the last four league games since then, is not expected to be back until at least after the international break.

Meanwhile, defensive midfielder, Abdul Samed Salis who also went off injured during Lens Ligue 1 game over the weekend is also expected to miss the game.

Chris Hughton, who is the head coach of the team is expected to be announced this week by the technical handlers of the team.
