2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: I am disappointed with my Black Stars debut - Patrick Kpozo

Patrick Kpozo has said he is disappointed with his Black Stars debut against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The FC Sheriff full-back was named in Black Stars' starting XI against Madagascar in the matchday five games on Sunday.

First-choice left-back, Gideon Mensah was ruled out of the game due to an injury before the team left for Antananarivo.

Despite making his debut, Kpozo said not getting a win gave him a mixed first appearance for the Black Stars.

“It was not the debut I wanted because I was expecting us to win, but it did not, but it is okay,” Kpozo said in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.

He further added that walking onto the pitch in Antananarivo was not nerve rack.

“For me, it was just a normal game I played. I never felt nervous and I am very okay. Before the game, the coach [Chris Hughton] told us the pitch was terrible and that changed our style a bit, but it was okay,” he added.

Ghana, who still sit top of Group E with eight points will wrap up their qualification games against the Central African Republic (CAR) in September at the Baba Yara Stadium.
