Black Stars Head Coach Chris Hughton has been forced to make a last-minute change to the squad ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifying match against Madagascar.

Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao has been ruled out of the match due to an injury to his right knee. As a result, Hughton has called upon Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer to fill the void left by Williams.

The Hamburger SV winger has scored 8 goals and provided one assist in 31 games in the German Bundesliga 2.

Königsdörffer will join the squad in Accra when they commence camping on June 12 ahead of the qualifier.

The Black Stars will travel to Madagascar for the match which has been scheduled for June 18,2023.

In a statement released on Monday, Inaki expressed his disappointment at being unable to join his national team for the crucial qualifier.

The player revealed that he had been battling pain in his right knee for several weeks. Despite his determination to continue playing until the end of the season, discussions with the medical staff led to the decision to prioritize his recovery and be fully fit for the preseason.

Inaki said, "This decision wasn't easy to take because I won't be able to stay with my national team, Ghana, for the next meeting. I want to say that I am fully committed, and I will come back to represent the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropriate in future calls. Thank you for your support."
