2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Zuku coach - Ibrahim Sannie Daara slams Black Stars coach Chris Hughton

Published on: 22 January 2024

Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara has taken a swipe at Chris Hughton.

The respected media guru expressed his frustration following Black Stars 2-2 draw with Mozambique in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Having suffered a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde and after being held to a 2-2 draw against Egypt, the Black Stars needed to win to seal their place in the Round of 16.

Ghana took the lead with Jordan Ayew scoring two spot-kicks in each half but Ghana's lead collapsed after Andre Ayew conceded a penalty which was converted making it 2-1.

However, with just minutes away from full-time, Richard Ofori conceded an avoidable corner kick which was headed in by Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo to draw the tie.

After the game, Sannie Daara, who is a senior CAF Media Officer slammed the former Premier League manager for throwing the win away.

Ghana now sit 3rd in Group B with two points and would have to wait for the rest of the groups to finish on Wednesday to see if their two points and a goal difference of -1 is enough to sneak through to the knockout stages.
