2023 African Games: Black Princesses, Satellites contribute gold medals to help Ghana earn its most medals in history

The 13th African Games concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the University of Ghana Stadium, marking the end of a historic event for Ghana.

Ghana achieved its most successful Games to date, securing a record number of medals, with football playing a pivotal role in contributing two gold medals to the nation's overall tally.

The Black Princesses clinched gold by defeating Nigeria 2-1 in extra time, showcasing resilience and determination after falling behind early in the final.

Following suit, the Black Satellites sealed Ghana's football dominance with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Uganda, securing another gold medal for the host nation.

As the host country, Ghana's impressive medal haul, including 19 gold, 29 silver, and 20 bronze medals, propelled them to sixth place on the overall medal table.

The 2023 African Games highlighted Ghana's sporting prowess and legacy, with victories in events like the 200 Metres Men's Final, Women's Hockey, Men's High Jump, Men's Football, and four gold medals in Boxing on the penultimate day of competition.
