2023 African Games: It’ll be an exciting month for all our visitors - President Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has assured the continent of Africa that the 2023 African Games, hosted in Ghana, will be a joyous and thrilling affair.

The competition, which commenced on Monday, March 4, is set to conclude in March 2023.

Addressing attendees at Ghana’s 67th Independence Day Anniversary Parade in Koforidua on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo conveyed his optimism that Ghana would set a stellar example for the rest of Africa through the successful organization of the games.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by Team Ghana in the initial stages of the competition, with no medals secured for the host nation after four days of intense rivalry, particularly in the realm of tennis, President Akufo-Addo remained resolute in his commitment to ensuring a memorable and jubilant experience for all participants and visitors.

“I’m not promising a Ghana clean sweep in the track and field events. That will be a miracle.

“I’m promising a happy and exciting month for all our visitors. We in Ghana know how to set the lead; we did it in 1957 when we were the first African nation in Sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence from colonial bondage.

“We owe it to ourselves and to the rest of Africa to be that shining Black Star.”

As the competition progresses, all eyes are on Team Ghana to bounce back and showcase their prowess on the continental stage
