2023 African Games: We’ll lift the image of Ghana high - Ghana U20 coach Desmond Ofei

Ghana U20 national team head coach, Desmond Ofei, has promised that his team will do their best to lift high the image of Ghana at the 2023 African Games being hosted in Ghana.

The African Games are Ofei’s first assignments with the team since his appointment to replace Samuel Boadu as Black Satellites coach.

The Black Satellites will open their campaign against Congo at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon in their Group A opener.

At the last African Games in 2019, Ghana did not progress from the group stage after finishing third in Group B behind Mali and Senegal.

"We go into every competition with the mindset to try to achieve the ultimate goal, which is to try to win the tournament. With our performance and if we advance further I am sure we will lift high the image of Ghana,” Ofei said at Thursday’s press conference.

The team must first top or finish second in Group A that also has Congo, The Gambia, and Benin before thinking about the title.

Ghana has won one gold medal in the football competition and two bronze medals in the 65 years of the African Games.
