Medeama SC coach, Evans Adotey says Horoya AC were not a weak side despite his side's win in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the 2023 CAF Champions League.

The Mauve and Yellow hosted the Guinean side at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After ending the first half goalless, goals from Nana Kofi Babil, Nurudeen Abdulai and Kofi Asmah ensured the home side recorded a 3-1 win.

Speaking after the game, Adotey acknowledged the quality of the opposition and insisted they are a good side despite their defeat.

“Beating Horoya AC 3-1 does not make them a weak side, they are a very good side, honestly speaking.

“If I compare Horoya and Remo Stars, Remo Stars came in physically, they were running, they were pushing, whatever, the physical ability was there unlike Horoya.

“But you could see, not so technical but you could see they could string their passes together, circulate their passes well.

“You could see in the last 15 minutes although we were desperate anytime they had a counterattack, we were in trouble.

“So I will say we played against a good side but just that we took our chances, unlike the other time when we could not create chances like we did today," he added.

Medeama SC will be hosted at the General Lansana Conte Stadium on Sunday, September 30 in the second leg of the preliminary games.
