2023 CHAN Qualifiers: We are determined to beat Ghana to qualify - Super Eagles B coach Salisu Yusuf

Super Eagles B head coach, Salisu Yusuf says his side will approach the game against Ghana with different energy and mentality.

Nigeria suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers for the 2023 CHAN tournament.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Suraj Seidu scored the goals as the Black Galaxies secured the vital win at the Cape Coast Stadium. With the return leg set to be played this weekend at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, Yusif is confident his side will put up a good performance to book a qualification.

“What is past is past and that is the case with the match we played in Ghana. Now we are looking forward to a good match on Saturday," he said.

“We are doing all we need to do to achieve our utmost desire to be in Algeria next year. There may have been one or two lapses that caught us on the bad end in Cape Coast but we can’t continue to dwell on that. We want to achieve a good result on Saturday.

“It is going to be more like 88 to 90 percent of the team we presented in Ghana last Sunday. Remember that Sadiq Abubakar was injured in a moment we thought should have produced a penalty kick for us. He has not recovered fully and so may not feature," he added.

The much-anticipated game is scheduled to kick off at 17:00GMT.

The winner of the game will book a spot in the CHAN tournament scheduled to be hosted in Algeria next year.
