Algeria U-23 coach Ould Ali has stated that in the first half his lads respected Ghana too much but in the second half, they pulled themselves up to get a draw.

The host missed a penalty in the 78th minute, Ghana goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim pulled off a brilliant save to keep the game level.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a sensational goal from 45 meters that zoomed into the net for the opener in the 83rd minute.

The young Greens will end up equalizing in added time thanks to Bekkouche, who will transform the penalty that Bekrar had not been able to score before him.

Speaking after the game monitored by Footballghana.com coach Ali said

“We probably respected the opponent too much in the first period when he was playing low or even very low block. We caught up in the second half and even allowed ourselves the luxury of missing a penalty,”

The second leg is scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

The winner over the two legs will qualify for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
