2023 U23 AFCON: Ernest Nuamah benched; Daniel Afriyie starts as Black Meteors lineup is announced for Guinea clash

Published on: 30 June 2023

Ghana U23 Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko has made several changes to the starting lineup for tonight's highly crucial 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final group A match against Guinea.

One notable change is the exclusion of Nordsjaelland forward Ernest Nuamah from the Black Meteors lineup for tonight's match.

Despite facing calls to replace him, goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad will retain his place in the starting eleven. Danlad's performance has been a subject of debate, but Tanko has chosen to maintain faith in the shot-stopper for this decisive encounter.

Tanko has also decided to include skipper Daniel Afriyie in the starting lineup, despite the player's underwhelming performances throughout the tournament so far.

Afriyie's inclusion is a calculated gamble by the coach, hoping that the captain can rediscover his form and make a significant impact on the match.

In addition to these changes, Samuel Abbey- Ashie Quaye and Nathaniel Adjei have been introduced into the starting XI for today's crucial game.

The match against Guinea is a must-win situation for the Black Meteors, who are aiming to progress to the semifinal stage of the U23 AFCON.
