Ghana and Congo are set to clash in their first game at the ongoing CAF U23 AFCON on Sunday, 25th June 2023, at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

Ahead of the match, Congo striker Prince Soussou expressed his team's eagerness to defeat Ghana and improve their chances of qualifying for the Olympic Games.

The Congolese team has faced disappointment in recent tournaments, being eliminated in the group stage of the African Nations Championship and losing in the quarter-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

They narrowly missed out on a historic qualification for the U-20 World Cup. However, this has only fueled their determination to succeed in the U23 AFCON.

Prince Sousou, who has previously represented Congo in the CHAN and U-20 AFCON, emphasized the importance of avoiding another setback and the motivation that comes with the possibility of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“Our presence is not a coincidence. We know we can achieve great things. Going to the Olympics is more than a dream for all of us.

“Participating in the greatest sporting event on Earth will be a source of pride for our homeland. Our careers will take a new trajectory.

“However, we must not get ahead of ourselves. Tomorrow, we face a formidable opponent, and we must remain focused and keep our objective in mind,” Soussou expressed.
