2024/25 Ghana Premier League: Draw against Samartex good result for us – Dreams FC Coach Karim Zito

Dreams FC Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito has described the goalless draw against FC Samartex as a positive result, given that his team played the final 18 minutes with only ten men.

The match, held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, marked the opening of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season for both sides.

Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah was tested early on, making a crucial save from a set-piece just outside the penalty box, with the ball being deflected out for a corner kick.

The first half ended in a stalemate, with neither team able to break the deadlock.

After the break, the 2023/24 league champions appeared more threatening and created several opportunities.

However, Dreams FC midfielder Collins Boah received a second yellow card in the 72nd minute and was sent off, marking the first red card of the season and leaving his team to finish the match with ten players.

“In some ways I will say it is a fair result because along the line we run short of one man. We were struggling to make it at least a draw,” Zito said.

“But before then it was a well fought battle. To me, they did well even though we wanted to win.”
