Basake Holy Stars coach, Abdulai Gazale, has revealed that winning against Hearts of Oak means he protected his record against the Phobians.
The newly promoted side shocked the Phobians 1-0 on Sunday, September 9, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium in their opening game of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
Speaking after the game, Gazale claimed winning means he as well preserved a record of Basake Holy Stars.
“Already we have records in terms of the team. I also have my records in terms of playing against Accra Hearts of Oak.
“Back at Kotoko, Hearts of Oak have never beaten us, and I was coming out with this particular mindset again as I am now in charge of this team.
“I have to make sure that history continues. Basake Holy Stars also have the same history.
They have never lost their first game, both in Division 1 and Division 2, and we wanted to do the same thing. We were able to play with discipline, and we did it."
