2024 U20 Women's World Cup: Black Princesses return to Ghana after early exit

Ghana's U20 women's national team, the Black Princesses, have returned to Ghana after their early exit from the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Colombia.

The players, technical team, and management members arrived in Accra on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, six players - Jenna Sapong, Helen Alormenu, Alexandra Emefa Tay, Salamatu Abdulai, Tracey Twum, and Asana Alhassan - joined their respective clubs directly from Colombia.

Ghana failed to progress beyond the group stages for the seventh consecutive time.

They lost their opening game against debutants Austria and suffered a thumping 4-1 defeat to Japan in the second match.

However, the team redeemed themselves with a 3-1 victory over New Zealand in their final group game, but it was not enough to secure their passage to the next round.

The early exit has raised concerns about the development of women's football in Ghana.

The team's inability to perform at the global stage has sparked discussions about the need for better training, resources, and support for the young players.
